WCRC Meeting Minutes - April 26, 2007 -

 

·        Meeting called to order at 7:00 P. M.

·        Roll Call; 27 Members present

·        Minutes of March meeting were read and accepted

·        Treasurers Report was presented

·        Two guests were present; Travis Weber and Pete Hitchner

·        Nick reminded Members to send photos to be published on the website as a Club roster; a profile is needed

·        Our annual work party will be on Saturday, April 28, 2007. Rain date is April 29th. Steve fields will provide an air compressor and a generator. Food will be served. Start time is 10:00 A. M.

·        Nick and John Kukon attended an awards ceremony at the Park visitors center for the "Park Volunteers." May 5th is the date of the Park's "History Fair." Club volunteers are needed to help.

·        Cub Scouts will visit the Club Field on May 6th. Free flight models will be given to the Scouts. Buddy Box flights will be available. Scouts parents will provide food. Start time is 2:00 P. M.

·        Girl Scouts will be at the Club Field on May 10th. They will get a lecture on Flight topics and be exposed to Buddy Box training. Time is 4:15 to 5:25 P. M.

·        CAP program; we will be associated with a local chapter (Twin Pines). Model planes have been purchased by the chapter. Nick read an outline of the program from the group leader. The cadets are from 12 to 18 years old.

·        The members voted unanimously to get involved in the program

·        On May 5th the YOUNG EAGLES program will be held at Twin Pines airport from 10:00 A. M. to 4:00 P. M. Young enthusiasts will get a free airplane ride

·        Wayne Artfitch has the Club video tapes for take-out

·        NEW BUSINESS:

·        Our driveway washout needs to be re-surfaced. Ric Debastos in looking into costs. Initial estimate is approx. $500.00 for 50 tons of Quarry blend material. Ric's son will spread material; we need to inform Park.

·        Club voted unanimously to do the driveway repair

·        A suggestion was made to post a speed limit sign next to the driveway

·        AMA suggested to post a "fly at your own risk sign" at the field. The state said "no such sign" because it sends a message that we admit there is risk in flying

·        GPS co-ordinates of the field are now posted in the impound shed

·        DEP may want to get involved in a Field security video camera. John Jenks is DEP employee and may help us get our system running. He may be able to shake loose some Homeland Security funds.

·        50/50 was won by Pete Zaremba; $16.00; Club $17.00

·        John Hitchner gave a report on the Toledo show. Very well attended.

·        John Hitchner also had a presentation on a "locator system" used for finding lost items, including airplanes, pets, cars, and TV remotes.

·        Meeting ended at 8:45 P. M.
